Founded in 2014 by native Garhwali river masters and certified mountaineers. Discover our unwavering commitment to outdoor safety, the CIR 7-Point Campsite Verification Standard, and sustainable Himalayan eco-tourism.
Born along the holy Ganges, our team grew up navigating the mighty Himalayan whitewater and scaling the rugged Garhwal ridges.
Camping in Rishikesh (`campinginrishikesh.org`) was born out of a profound passion for the Himalayas. In the early 2010s, adventure tourism in Rishikesh was largely fragmented—dominated by informal roadside operators offering inconsistent safety standards, unverified tents pitched precariously close to the floodplains, and poorly maintained equipment.
In 2014, a group of native Garhwali outdoor guides, certified white-water kayakers, and hospitality professionals united to establish a new paradigm. Our vision was simple yet uncompromising: to provide travelers with authentic, safe, and environmentally responsible outdoor camping experiences backed by strict safety protocols and genuine mountain hospitality.
Over the past decade, we have expanded from a single eco-campsite in Shivpuri into Uttarakhand's leading curated outdoor network, managing and verifying dozens of premier luxury Swiss glamping resorts, riverside cottages, and jungle wilderness retreats across Shivpuri, Mohan Chatti, Ghattugad, Kaudiyala, and Tapovan.
Whitewater rafting on the Ganges is an exhilarating sport that demands world-class technical competence and rescue readiness.
Every whitewater expedition managed or recommended by Camping in Rishikesh is spearheaded by Senior River Masters holding official certifications from the International Rafting Federation (IRF) and the Indian River Running Association (IRRA).
Our lead guides have logged more than a decade of active river navigation across the sacred Ganges, Alaknanda, Bhagirathi, Tons, and Zanskar rivers. They understand every hydraulic feature, eddy line, standing wave, and undercut rock on legendary rapids like The Wall (Class IV), Roller Coaster (Class III+), Golf Course (Class III+), and Club House.
Furthermore, all Class III+ and Class IV commercial rafting trips are escorted by dedicated Swift Water Rescue Technicians (SRT-1) operating high-performance rescue safety kayaks positioned immediately downstream of turbulent rapid chutes.
We do not cut corners on life safety equipment. Every guest is fitted with top-tier international standard gear:
Every campsite listed or operated in our network must pass a rigorous 42-parameter inspection across seven mandatory core pillars.
Strict adherence to National Green Tribunal environmental directives. Zero permanent structures or camping within the active Ganga high-flood zone to preserve delicate riverbank ecosystems.
Semi-permanent luxury Swiss glamping tents, bamboo cottages, and stone masonry with natural ventilation. Zero heavy concrete pouring on fragile Himalayan mountain terraces.
Comprehensive waste segregation, on-site organic composting, greywater filtration reed beds, and zero dumping of solid waste into mountain streams or forest valleys.
Spotless commercial stainless-steel kitchens, multi-stage Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification for all cooking and drinking, and fresh locally sourced farm ingredients.
Modern ceramic sanitary fixtures, attached ensuite private washrooms inside all luxury tents, biological septic filtration tanks, and hot running water powered by solar geysers.
Seamless inverter backup paired with silent, sound-damped generators ensuring uninterrupted tent lighting, cooling fans, and high-speed multi-device charging stations.
Gated private perimeters, 24/7 on-site security marshals, CCTV monitoring at access gates, strictly enforced evening quiet hours, and zero tolerance for unruly behavior.
True sustainable tourism means ensuring the wealth and benefits of Himalayan travel stay directly with the mountain villages.
We take immense pride in our mountain workforce. More than 85% of our staff members—from Senior Expedition Leaders and Kayak Rescue Masters to Executive Chefs, Housekeeping Marshals, and Shuttle Drivers—are native residents of Tehri Garhwal and Pauri Garhwal districts.
We provide year-round fair wages, specialized technical safety training, English language proficiency courses, and medical coverage for our mountain staff and their families, ensuring long-term dignity and preventing youth migration from rural mountain villages.
Our campsite dining halls celebrate authentic Himalayan flavors. We partner directly with organic smallholder farmers across Shivpuri, Mohan Chatti, and Neelkanth valleys to source:
